For this work, an extraordinary crimson sky was set against a big splash of wave, a characteristic in my newer works.
The painting tries to capture the fairy tale of Hansel and Gretel in which the candy hut was a great attraction in childhood. With that nostalgia, I was motivated to paint this cozy-looking hut with light glowing through its windows.
In fact, this was my idea of a fantasy home, with crushing sea waves in the background and colorful roses bushes on the sides.
I loved making these stony soft grey-colored pavement and stairs, trickled with violets and other colorful flowers.
In the background, you can see an old curvy tree, which borrows elements from Chinese Art and enhances the magical elements of the hut.
This painting has a unique warm effect with steam coming out of the chimneys. One interesting detail is the tiny whale-shaped North/South pole steel pointer on the top of the hut’s roof which is like a cherry on top in this work.
